AptiPlay is a new kind of music controller designed to make music creation accessible to people with limited mobility. Developed by AmeNote, AptiPlay converts signals from simple switches and other adaptive inputs into expressive musical control using modern MIDI 2.0 technology. Instead of requiring the complex finger movements needed to play traditional instruments, AptiPlay allows users to trigger notes, chords, rhythms, loops, and other musical elements with whatever physical input works best for them.

AptiPlay has 8 inputs. Inputs 1 to 6 accept on/off switches. Inputs 7 and 8 accept the same switches or fully analog controls.

The system is highly customizable, so it can be configured to match each person’s abilities and preferred way of interacting. A single switch might play a melody note, step through chords, trigger a beat, or control effects in real time. Multiple switches can be combined to build richer musical performances without requiring conventional keyboard technique.

Because it communicates using standard MIDI, AptiPlay works with music software and hardware instruments. This allows users to explore a wide range of sounds and creative possibilities. The goal of AptiPlay is simple: to give more people the ability to actively participate in making music, regardless of physical limitations.
